Amy has over 15 years of experience providing clinical supervision to new therapists and students. She provides a supervision experience that is strengths-based, thorough, and supportive, with an emphasis on self-care and self-awareness. Amy will walk along-side you and guide you as you develop your style and approach to working with the particular population that you serve. She will emphasize the importance of being trauma-informed, increasing awareness around issues of diversity, equity & inclusion, as well as being client-centered. Amy has in-depth knowledge of local funders, fee-for-service billing, and the demands that new therapists face working in the non-profit sector and area schools. You can expect to feel listened to, understood, and respected–while also being challenged to step out on your learning edge and develop clinically over the course of your supervision experience.

Reviews From Previous Supervisees:

“Supervision under Amy Brown is probably the single most influential and transformative experience during my time as a social worker.  With Amy, I could bring my whole self to supervision each week.  She supported me, challenged me, and helped me grow both professionally and personally.  Because of our time together, I am a better social worker, a better play therapist, and ultimately a better human.  She is a true gift to anyone who comes into contact with her, offering exactly what you need in any given moment!”

Melanie Rodman, MSW, LCSW, RPT-S Therapist, Rodman Counseling, LLC

“Amy has provided both clinical licensure and program supervision to me. My experience with supervision under Amy has proven to be invaluable, and has shaped me into the clinician I am today. Amy both challenged and supported me to improve my clinical skills, and fully embrace the strengths-based philosophy. Amy understood that supervision is not only about your clients, but also about your own personal feelings and values. She provided a safe place for me to bring my whole self, which in turn allowed me to be a stronger therapist. While I am no longer under supervision with Amy, I consider her to be a lifelong mentor.”

-Rachael Woepke, MSW, LCSW Director, Counseling Services, Youth In Need

“Amy provided me with licensure supervision as well as program supervision at the start of my career. Her ability to be compassionate, direct, and coach me in clinically challenging situations has helped shaped me into the professional I am today.  Clinical supervision can be very personal and require a lot of vulnerability.  The safety Amy provided allowed for me to grow in ways I needed to best serve clients.  She not only saw my strengths as a clinician but as an individual and built on those, allowing me to bring my whole self into our shared space. Now, many years later she is a confidant, mentor, and strong voice for the social work values, and has allowed me to also pass these skills onto the next generation of social workers.”

Brittanie Zwart, MSW, LCSW, Therapist, BGZ Therapy, LLC

“Amy was a great supervisor and I enjoyed meeting with her on a weekly basis as I pursued my LCSW. Getting a clinical license wasn’t something that I thought that I wanted (or would have been able to successfully do) and I had put it off for several years. Amy encouraged me along way, challenging me to think about all of the various aspects of each clinical issue/situation that arose. Most importantly, she was able to help me navigate through several challenging professional situations which made me appreciative of the clinical support and guidance she offered. If you’re on the fence about pursuing your LCSW, or just looking for an expert to guide you along the way, I would highly recommend Amy as she helped me reach new professional goals!”

-Jeff Yin, MSW, LCSW Educational Support Counselor, Wentzville School District

“Similar to many professionals beginning their journey to licensure, I was curious to find out what two years of supervision under a licensed clinician would look like. However, my hopeful expectations were exceeded because my agency assigned me with Amy Brown. My experience from start to finish had been filled with her technical knowledge coupled with a sincere care and concern for my professional development and personal accomplishments. Amy is not only an expert in her clinical skills but also walks a path of social justice for the community’s most vulnerable populations. I can honestly say that where I began to where I am now, a genuine transformation occurred, which I believe strengthened my ability to practice and my desire to continue growing as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.”
