What We Offer

VIRTUAL COUNSELING FOR YOUNG ADULTS

Young adulthood is one of the most exciting and challenging stages of life. You may be starting college, entering the workforce, navigating relationships, living on your own for the first time, or trying to figure out what comes next. While these experiences can be exciting, they can also bring uncertainty, stress, and pressure as you balance new responsibilities and major life decisions.

If you’ve been feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, unmotivated, or unsure of yourself, you’re not alone. Many young adults experience increased stress while managing academic demands, career decisions, financial responsibilities, changing relationships, family expectations, and questions about their future. Counseling provides a safe, supportive space to better understand what you’re experiencing while helping you develop healthy coping skills and move forward with greater confidence.

At Amy Brown Counseling, we provide virtual counseling services for young adults throughout Missouri in a supportive, confidential, and judgment-free environment. Our goal is to help you better understand yourself, strengthen your emotional well-being, improve relationships, develop healthy coping skills, and successfully navigate life’s challenges.

Virtual counseling allows you to receive professional support wherever you are in Missouri. Whether you’re living at home, attending college, beginning your career, or relocating to a new city, secure online counseling makes it easy to fit therapy into your schedule without the added stress of commuting to appointments.

Many young adults appreciate the flexibility and privacy that virtual counseling provides. Meeting online often makes it easier to prioritize your mental health while building a meaningful therapeutic relationship and creating lasting, positive change.

Counseling is not about having all the answers. It’s about having a supportive place to explore your thoughts, better understand yourself, develop practical coping skills, and gain the confidence to move forward in a way that feels right for you.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM COUNSELING

Starting counseling can feel like a big step, especially if you’ve never worked with a therapist before. It’s completely normal to feel unsure about what to expect. At Amy Brown Counseling, our goal is to provide a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself.

During your first few sessions, we’ll spend time getting to know you, understanding what has brought you to counseling, and learning about your goals. There is no pressure to have everything figured out before you begin. Therapy is a process, and we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

As counseling progresses, you’ll gain a better understanding of your thoughts, emotions, and patterns while developing practical tools to manage stress, anxiety, difficult relationships, and life’s everyday challenges. Together, we’ll work on building healthy coping skills, improving communication, strengthening confidence, and identifying realistic goals that support your personal growth.

Every counseling experience is unique because every person is unique. Whether you’re working through a specific situation or looking for ongoing support, therapy is tailored to your individual needs, strengths, and goals. Our focus is on helping you create meaningful, lasting changes that improve your emotional well-being and help you move forward with greater confidence.

HOW OFTEN WILL WE MEET?

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to counseling. The frequency of sessions depends on your individual goals, the challenges you’re experiencing, and the level of support you need at different points in your life.

Some clients benefit from meeting weekly, especially when working through anxiety, depression, major life transitions, or particularly stressful periods. Others may find that meeting every other week provides the right balance as they continue practicing the skills they’re learning in counseling. As progress is made, many clients choose to transition to monthly sessions for continued support and personal growth.

Counseling is a collaborative process, and your session schedule can always be adjusted over time. Together, we’ll regularly evaluate your progress and determine a frequency that best supports your goals while fitting your schedule and lifestyle.

During particularly difficult periods, some clients may benefit from meeting more than once a week for additional support.

WHY YOUNG ADULTS CHOOSE VIRTUAL COUNSELING

For many young adults, virtual counseling offers a level of flexibility and convenience that fits today’s busy lifestyles. Whether you’re attending college, working full-time, balancing multiple responsibilities, or living in a different part of Missouri, online counseling makes it easier to prioritize your mental health without the time and stress of traveling to appointments.

Many clients appreciate being able to attend counseling from the comfort and privacy of their own home, apartment, or dorm room. Meeting in a familiar environment often helps people feel more relaxed, making it easier to open up, discuss personal concerns, and fully engage in the counseling process.

Virtual counseling also makes it easier to maintain consistency when life changes. Whether you’re moving to a new city, changing jobs, or adjusting to a new semester, you can continue meeting with your therapist from anywhere in Missouri using our secure online counseling platform.

Research continues to support the effectiveness of virtual counseling for many common mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions. Just as importantly, meaningful therapeutic relationships can be built through online counseling, allowing you to receive compassionate, personalized support wherever you are.

LIMITED IN-PERSON COUNSELING APPOINTMENTS

In addition to virtual counseling services available throughout Missouri, Amy Brown Counseling also offers a limited number of in-person counseling appointments at our Chesterfield office. These appointments are ideal for clients who prefer meeting face-to-face or feel that an office setting best supports their counseling experience.

Our experienced therapists work with young adults facing a wide range of emotional and mental health concerns, providing compassionate, individualized care in a comfortable and welcoming environment. Whether you choose virtual counseling or in-person sessions, our goal is to provide the same high-quality care while helping you build confidence, strengthen coping skills, and improve your overall emotional well-being.

OUR THERAPEUTIC APPROACH

Every person is unique, which is why counseling should never follow a one-size-fits-all approach. At Amy Brown Counseling, treatment is personalized to meet your individual needs, strengths, personality, and goals. We believe meaningful change happens through a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, compassion, and collaboration.

Our therapists utilize evidence-based approaches that may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, Mindfulness techniques, and other therapeutic interventions based on your specific concerns and treatment goals. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, counseling also helps you better understand yourself, recognize patterns that may be holding you back, build resilience, strengthen relationships, and develop practical skills you can continue using long after counseling has ended.

Whether you’re working through anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, or simply looking for greater clarity and direction, counseling is designed to help you create meaningful, lasting change.

TAKE THE FIRST STEP TOWARD POSITIVE CHANGE

You don’t have to have everything figured out before starting counseling. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, uncertain about the future, or simply looking for support as you navigate this stage of life, counseling can provide a safe place to gain clarity, build confidence, and develop practical tools for lasting emotional well-being.

At Amy Brown Counseling, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to feel heard, supported, and empowered to grow. Our goal is to help you better understand yourself, strengthen your relationships, and develop the skills needed to navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence.
